Meet Guldsmed Frisenberg — five generations of craftsmanship with K.A. Rasmussen as supplier
K.A. Rasmussen is the goldsmith supplier providing raw materials, tools, and metal accounts to professional goldsmiths in Norway. Read how Guldsmed Frisenberg utilizes our services in their daily operations.
Guldsmed Frisenberg has been located in the same building in Lillehammer since 1880. Fredrik Frisenberg himself shares this history — he is the fifth generation in the family business and has been a master goldsmith since taking over in 2007.
— We started in 1868, and the key to our success through five generations has been the focus on craftsmanship, quality, and service. We notice this particularly in the workshop, says Fredrik.
When he took over nearly twenty years ago, he worked alone in the workshop. Today, there are five goldsmiths in-house.
Raw materials and tools for goldsmiths — all in one place
In daily work, raw materials are the very foundation. As a supplier, K.A. Rasmussen provides Guldsmed Frisenberg with casting grain, sheets, and wire, among other things — locally produced and refined in Norway.
But raw materials are just the beginning. K.A. Rasmussen also supplies tools, production equipment, and consumables for the workshop — everything a goldsmith needs for their daily work, from one and the same supplier. For special requirements, customized alloys developed for specific technical and aesthetic demands are offered.
All materials are produced using recycled precious metals from the refinery in Hamar, ensuring a short value chain, high traceability, and a low environmental footprint.
Old gold, new stories
A large part of Frisenberg’s business involves giving old gold new life. Customers bring in heirlooms, jewelry they no longer use, or gold they wish to transform into something new.
— We have always melted down customers’ old gold. We can create new jewelry, telling new stories with the same gold — but in a new format. We help with design and reproduction, or create entirely new pieces, says Fredrik.
Silver and gold purchased from private individuals are also sent for refining at K.A. Rasmussen, where the value is withdrawn in new metals or deposited into a metal account.
Metal account — a flexible solution for the goldsmith workshop
For an active workshop business like Frisenberg, the metal account is more than a payment solution — it is a practical tool for daily operations. Submitted gold and silver are converted into metal holdings in the account, which can be used directly when purchasing raw materials in the webshop.
— The fact that K.A. Rasmussen offers a metal account is important to us. It allows us to withdraw metals and wire when we need them, and we can also transfer metals to other suppliers who offer metal accounts, Fredrik explains.
Sustainable, solid, and traditional
Fredrik Frisenberg describes the supplier relationship with three words: sustainable, solid, and traditional.
For a business that has survived five generations on craftsmanship and quality, it is perhaps no coincidence who they choose to work with. K.A. Rasmussen has supplied Norwegian goldsmiths since 1872 — and continues to do so.
